The strengthening relationship between summer rainfall over North China and PDO since the mid-2000s

The interdecadal change of the summer (July–August) rainfall over North China (SRNC) is great concern to climate research community. Based on sliding correlation and difference analysis, SRNC was studied. Results show a significantly wetter period since mid-2000s, which associated with strengthening negative relationship between PDO. PDO affected through jet stream in upper-level East Asia–Pacific (EAP) teleconnection pattern. In phase contractive west resulted abnormal updraft southern region China. Meanwhile, positive EAP pattern brought warm wet southeast flow entering from its eastern boundary, both bringing more water vapor transport western Pacific very different that accompanying Asian monsoon.
